'Desi' is a  Live Bhangra Fusion Group which is known for their unique fusion of combining the music genres Bhangra, Electronic Rock, Pop Folk & Latin American Percussion.  The Group has a strong percussion section that draws from Indian and Latin American influences, in addition to the influence of the traditional five piece drum kit.  The Group was established in 1986 by Desraj Thaper who is the Group Leader.  The group have been performing live for over 30 years.  The Group specialises in arranging and orchestrating live music performances for vocalling talents in the UK and from Overseas.  Many UK, European Union and Overseas based artists have performed with the group over the years.  The most notable artists who perform regularly with the Group today include the UK based singer Daljit Mattu and the Overseas based singer Gurmukh Doabia.  The Group also includes a talented songwriter and a talented singer/songwriter, who are both co-singers with the Group.  Satnam Gill, has written many songs for UK and Overseas based singers including Daljit Mattu and Gurmukh Doabia respectively.  Raj Kumar Gill has written songs for a number of UK based artists, including the up-and-coming Oxfordshire based young talent named Daniel Sarb and has also recently released his first single as a singer.
